1. General description
The EES is a large-scale, European
cross-national, longitudinal survey research programme on attitudes, beliefs
and values regarding electoral participation and voting behaviour in
European Parliament elections as well as perceptions and beliefs with
respect to the EU in general.
2. Survey type
- Cross-national
- Cross-sectional, with some longitudinal questions (waves in 1979,
1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004). Each of the waves consists mainly of
questions provided by various Eurobarometers. For the 1984 wave, the
dataset is not available and the Eurobarometer codebooks are not
integrated as a single EES codebook. For this reason, the 1984 wave will
not be discussed here in detail. For more information on the EES 1984
