1. General description
The New Europe Barometer is a
large-scale, European cross-national, longitudinal survey research programme
on changes in attitudes, beliefs and values with regard to economic,
political and social issues in relation to Europe. It has been monitoring
the response of citizens of post-Communist societies to their new regimes
since 1991.
The information available from the NEB is divided between two institutions:
the Central Archive (ZA), and the Centre for the Study of Public Policy
(CSPP). Both differ slightly with respect to the questionnaires and the
number of participating countries. Since the data is stored at ZACAT, ZA's
central archive, the information here focuses on the data provided by ZA.
Furthermore, ZA uses alternative labels for the NEB, namely ‘Central and
Eastern Eurobarometer’ and ‘Candidate Countries Eurobarometer’. For links to
information from the CSPP on the New Europe Barometer, see
CSPP.
