A continuación se describen los comandos necesarios para configurar un equipo con IPv6, en los sistemas operativos Ubuntu, Red Hat y Debian, así como también otros comandos útiles.

También hemos incluído un listado de vínculos útiles para la configuración y testeo  vínculos útiles

Previamente hay que verificar que el módulo IPv6 esté activo, con el comando  lsmod.
Si no está activo, activarlo con el comando   insmod ipv6

En estos ejemplos las direcciones IPv6 que usaremos serán de la forma:
2001:1328: xxxx :: yyyy
Siendo cada x e y un número hexadecimal

Ubuntu

Conexión nativa

1) asigna una dirección IPv6

ip addr add direccion_ipv6 dev nombre_interfaz

2) agrega la ruta por default y el gateway

route -Ainet6 add red_ipv6/prefijo dev nombre_interfaz
route -Ainet6 add default gw direccion_ipv6

Ejemplo

ip addr add 2001:1328: xxxx :: yyyy dev eth0
route -Ainet6 add 2001:1328: xxxx ::/64 dev eth0
route -Ainet6 add default  gw 2001:1328: xxxx ::zzzz

Red Hat

Conexión nativa

1) asigna una dirección IPv6

ifconfig nombre_interfaz add direccion_ipv6

2) agrega la ruta por default y el gateway

route -A inet6 add red_ipv6/prefijo dev nombre_interfaz
route -A inet6 add ::0/0 gw direccion_ipv6

Ejemplo

ifconfig eth0 add 2001:1328: xxxx :: yyyy
route -A inet6 add 2001:1328: xxxx ::/64 dev eth0
route -A inet6 add ::0/0 gw 2001:1328: xxxx ::1

Túnel configurado

ifconfig sit0 up
ifconfig sit0 tunnel ::direccion_ipv4
ifconfig sit1 up
ifconfig sit1 add direccion_ipv6/126

ip tunnel add sit1 mode sit remote direccion_ipv4

ip addr add direccion_ipv6/126 dev sit1
ip route add ::0/0 via direccion_ipv6
